Florida Keys Field Trip

On Friday, September 20th the class of GLY 3552C from the University of South Florida had it's first field trip to one of the islands in the Florida Keys called Key Largo (Picture 1.1). This exciting trip began early in the morning (7am), because we had to drive a long way, which took us around 6 hours to arrive there. Before going to this exotic place, we stopped to Venice beach in order to find some shark teeth.

Few of my classmates got lucky and found some shark teeth, but most of us just ended  up with some shells and sand. Also, I noticed that the sand of Venice Beach was sub-angular (Picture 1.5-1.6), which can indicate that the distance of the sand  transportation wasn't too far from its source.

After a few hours of driving and a couple of resting stops, we finally arrived at the place we were supposed to stay called Amoray Dive Resort. The resort was absolutely beautiful with a magnificent view of the sea and the nature on the island (Picture 1.7-1.8)
